Route & General Observations

We did a quick recon up wedding bowl to look at the BS Headwall and see if it had slid during the last warm wx event. There was no evidence of crown or debris. The steep pitch (“Hamburger Helper”?) above Wedding Bowl had slid and left a nice debris pile at the top of the route. We dug a quick pit to check how far down water had permeated into the snowpack. We were 3/4 of the way up Wedding Bowl, elevation approx 2600 ft, NE aspect. We observed 28cm layer of surface snow from the last cycle that was well bonded to the bed surface. Water had permeated 58cm deep from the top of the bed surface to the bottom. Knife hard! The snow under the saturated/refrozen layer is heavily faceted. Total snow depth 208cm. This spring should be interesting.
