Dug pit on similar (n/ne) aspect and elevation (2300′) before first lap. Lots of snow moving, the top 6-8″ of the light new snow. Nothing broke on pit, but from hiking/first descent it was clear snow was energetic. Skier went to side and then below of convex roll, top layer propagated east along slope, carried skier a yard or two into tree, snow cascaded around, buried skis, skier’s head out/free, was able to get skis off and dig out on own.
