Route & General Observations

Deep snow while breaking the trail up in the open areas, while the wind effect from the other day made the skin track a bit slick in the trees. We discussed the recent storms, considerable to high avy conditions, and potential routes down to try to stay off convexities while favoring the lower angled slopes. The last pitch however is a bit steeper across the whole slope, necessiting terrain management. On this steeper pitch, we produced a fair amount of slough that entrained even more snow. A skier could have easily been caught, carried, and buried. If this occurred on the upper pitches this would be quite substantial as it gained momentum and potentially trigger a deeper weak layer. Have fun, be safe!
