Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Intermediate rain on the way up, snow just below Wedding Bowl Elevation, sheltered from winds at this location.

Snow surface

Heavy snow... saturated.

Snowpack

Heavy new snow was 4 finger density down 35-40 cm from surface, with a couple thin and variable ice crust layers at 20 and 30 cm deep. Solid frozen layer at 40-45 cm from surface, roughly 15-20 cm thick, with another ice crust layer below then transitioning from 1 finger to harder density. See picture.

ECTN23 at the ice crust 30 cm deep, heavy snow and saturation negated any energy/propagation.

Could not determine total snow depth for fear of losing probe.
