Obvious signs of instability
Recent Avalanches?No
Collapsing (Whumphing)?Yes
Cracking (Shooting cracks)?Yes
Observer Comments

One large collapse in mid elevation meadow in a loaded location. No other collapses noted. Shooting cracks stubborn in switchback tracks on the ridge at tree line. Rollerballs in lower woods.

Weather & Snow Characteristics
Please provide details to help us determine the weather and snowpack during the time this observation took place.
Weather

Rimed new snow falling. Light south wind; minimal transport.

Snow surface

Dry new snow at 2700' ranged to moist at mid elevations and then wet/sticky last couple hundred feet above the road. Rime crust observed from last night(?) ranged from near the surface to 20cm below the surface.

Snowpack

ECT's ranged from ECTN's to ECTP on both the near surface facets and dry snow layers (see attached snow pit). Inconsistent results make this one harder to peg but in the right location these layers could no doubt produce human triggered slabs.
